Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Be sure to read the entire listing
before setting out for Saffordville. You can get there from HWY
50 despite what the driving directions may say. You'll still need
to know the following info and possibly the hints when you get
there. (Did you read the
capitalized non-italicized hidden hint about the town's
location?)
Maybe you've seen Saffordville on a map but
never visited, so here's an ammo can to draw some tourism.
At one time, there were various lodges, a bank, telegraph and
express offices, and a post office here.
Population was 200 back in the early 1900s but has changed a bit
since then.
Looks like a P&G, but it isn't necessarily, so please avoid
blocking traffic or driveways.
I think you'll notice other things that aren't always what they
seem, so trust your GPSr (and the hints).
Enjoy your walk around the peaceful town of
Saffordville!
Disclaimers: Cache at your own
risk; there are steps without any handrails, lumpy sidewalk, and
things to trip over, so the terrain rating's a little higher than
one would expect of a cache in town. Don't attempt this one if it's
rained excessively and the Cottonwood is a mile out of its banks,
unless you have waders or SCUBA (depending on how flooded it is).
Remember, this town has been flooded by that river at least 10
times since 1904 so it could be again.
...FTF can practice speeding to future
caches at the comfort and warmth of a computer with the enclosed
racing game, or choose another suitable reward...
:) Thanks to property owner Dr. Tom Bridge
for permission to place a cache! :)
