Sacile e il suo fiume Livenza

[ITA]Sacile è la seconda città della provincia. Il caratteristico centro storico sorge su due isole sul fiume Livenza lungo le cui sponde si affacciano numerosi palazzi nobiliari del periodo veneziano; è chiamata anche il giardino della Serenissima. La città si sviluppò attorno al VII secolo su due isole sul fiume Livenza come presidio fortificato lungo la strada che portava in Friuli. Non è ben chiaro se le due isole siano naturali o opera dell'uomo: sulla maggiore vennero costruiti il Duomo e un castello, mentre sull'altra si tenevano i commerci e vi si trovavava un porto fluviale. Ogni prima domenica dopo Ferragosto a Sacile si tiene la Sagra dei Osei, fiera-mercato di uccelli e animali da cortile. Particolare è la gara di chioccolo in cui i concorrenti imitano il canto degli uccelli. La manifestazione si svolge anche in forma ridotta a primavera. Nel mese di dicembre, in tutto il centro storico, viene allestito un mercatino con delle casette di legno, ornate da luci e addobbi natalizi.
[ENG] Sacile is the second city of the province. The quaint old town is situated on two islands on the river Livenza along the banks of which overlook noble palaces of Venetian, is also called the garden of Venice. The town developed around the seventh century on two islands on the river Livenza as a defensive fortress along the road leading in Friuli. It is unclear whether the two islands are natural or man's work. Every first Sunday after 15 August in Sacile the "Sagra dei Osei", fair-market of birds and poultry. Detail is "Chioccolo" race where competitors imitate birdsong. The event takes place even in reduced form in the spring. In December, around the old town, is set up a market with the wooden houses, adorned with lights and Christmas decorations.
