To get this one, you'll need a sense of adventure and no fear of a large, bear hunting dog. Reception here is spotty, so you need your geosense's. Finding the cache is easy,rates a 2 star. The high diff. rating is because of the dog.
Located in a newly opened preserve, the trails are not yet marked, but plain to see (old access roads). 4-cup lock&lock.

From the Countryside Conservancy website:
"Messimer Preserve: acquired in 2005. A 44-acre forested creekside property on the South Branch of the Tunkhannock Creek in North Abington Township, Lackawanna County. Majestic woods rise on steep slopes above the creek. This preserve protects lands from near the ridgeline down to the creek to maintain water quality, stream life, and recreational opportunities, as well as Lackawanna Lake and Lackawanna State Park downstream. Access this property from Grist Mill Road; park at the designated Conservancy parking area."
You'll first need to run the gauntlet with a territorial,untied-up but friendly Newfoundland. The access road to the preserve entrance goes by a house you must walk past.
If you're afraid of dogs DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE! You need to be able to stop and let this guy sniff you out before you may pass.
If you brought a dog with you DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE!
I have no idea how well this guy plays with others.
If you tend to "Look large and yell" with strange dogs DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE! That technique might work with bears, but this is a dog. And one that is bred to HUNT bears.
Just show this guy respect on his turf. He's just doing his job here.
