This cache is located on Eustatia Island very near a beautiful
beach. You will need a boat to reach the beach. Once there, avoid
going up onto the island as it becomes private property. All
beaches in the BVI are public. You can reach the cache without
venturing far from the water. Shoes are highly
recommended.
The area of Eustatia Sound is great for snorkeling. Eustatia Sound
is defined by Eustatia Reef, easily identified by the brilliant
white of its breaking surf. Starting from Prickly Pear Island,
Eustatia Reef reaches around behind Eustatia Island and stretches
across the wide expanse behind its gateway at Saba Rock to Virgin
Gorda's actual terminus near Oil Nut Bay. Another great snorkeling
spot is marked by a red buoy straight out on the reef. Here are the
remains of a dive wreck with cannons that can be free dived in
about 15' of water. Also, on the north side of the Bitter End are
seagrass beds teeming with juvenile marine life.
Small note on cache maintenance: We travel to the
BVI several times a year, also have a local "cache guardian" who
can assist if needed.
