How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

One of a small number of such structures still in use around the country.

The cache is a green painted 1 litre Sistema container hidden under a rock.

It is not on the structure, and you do NOT need to go on or near the road or the railway to find it.

Please park in the large open area to the west of the road.

CAUTION: There are steep drops not far from the cache. Please be careful and watch children. (The hint is very specific because of this).

CAUTION: Do take the cache title seriously. From October to April, The Taieri Gorge Railway train regularly passes twice a day on Fridays and Sundays, at approximately 11.40 - 11.45 a.m. and 1.15 - 1.20 p.m., but it may pass at other times as well. (We would appreciate feedback on the exact times) You may want to time your visit to coincide with the train.

UPDATE: With the demise of the Taieri Gorge train trips to Middlemarch due to Covid-19, it is highly unlikely any trains will be crossing the bridge in future.
