Magotty Pagotty Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bald Rover: Not so long ago I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in the knees which did stop me getting out. With physio things have improved and I am now mobile. However, as the arthritis is likely to get progressively worse I have decided to bring in my most remote caches while I still can. Additionally, tree felling was going on in the vicinity of the tree where the cache was hidden so archiving this cache is a good decision for that alone..

Geocache Description:

I was scanning an Ordnance Survey map looking at places locally where there are no caches and I spotted the name Magotty Pagotty. On seeing this I just had to go to the location to look around and hence the cache. Luckily enough there is a public footpath that gives access to the area. I found a reference to Magotty Pagotty and Copley Wood in a book by Richard Leviton called What's Beyond that Star: A Chronicle of Geomythic Adventure, where he refers to Magotty Pagotty as being a stream.

I have now moved Stage 1 to the Hurcott side of the woods as the original Stage 1 has been overwhelmed by a new Solar Farm. This is a far better start point as it is a more challenging and picturesque area.

The co-ordinates are for stage 1 is the start/end of the Polden Way walk. At this point you find a stile and a map of the area. From here you will have to work out the location of the cache buy solving the answers to the following questions.

Q1. What is the total number of blue butterflies found on the stile only? This will be A.

Q2. One of the organisations that created the Polden Way walk has a number forming part of their name. What is it? This will be B.

N 51° 04.4(Ax3)2 W 002° 41.(Ax3)(B-1)4

The final stage is within 1 Kilometer of stage 1.

Please keep dogs on leads as this is a requirement in the area.

If you continue down hill past the final stage you will come to a stream, which might be the Magotty Pagotty as mentioned above. It can get very muddy after rain so be warned.

I have only given a hint for the final stage as in the summer when the tree canopy is thick some GPS's might have a problem with the signal.
