2Wheel'in: Alas, over time things change in the woods & the original hide location for Stage 1 (a hollow in the base of a large standing dead tree) deteriorated to the point where the tree fell. In April 2011 the NVRPA published Geocaching Guidelines that restricted cache placement to within 25 feet of an established/developed trail...Stage 1 was more than 300 feet off trail, but I chose to ignore the guidelines because this cache was "pre-guideline" since it was placed in December 2009. Getting permission to move Stage 1 to a similar location would be difficult if not impossible, and would also divulge the locations of Stage 2 and 3 (neither of which conform to current guidelines). This cache had a great run, and was a fun example of 12 local geocachers providing some holiday cheer. The final for this holiday series "2009 NoVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas Final" GC21PD1 (http://coord.info/GC21PD1) is still an active cache; however, it might prove un-findable without the clue from my (this) cache. So, for the 4 watchers (and anyone else who might like to have the clue here it is):
*****This clue is for the 2009 NoVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas Final (GC21PD1). Add the number
from all 12 caches to the coordinates you retrieved from “A Micro in an Ivy Patch (GC21BPG).
Plus (+) 2989 to the Latitude*****
Over almost 5 years this cache was found 76 times, and there was 1 DNF - many thanks to all that hunted it, I've really enjoyed reading your logs.
Special thanks to geocacher (and friend) cphug184 who was responsible for instigating this holiday series.
MooseMaMa and I hiked the White and Green Trails in Algonkian Regional Park today and retrieved all 3 containers...the trade items in Stage 3 will be recycled into other caches.
