Geocache Description:

This is a fairly easy find. There is a very small elevation change right at the parking area. Please do not go inside the fenced in area, the cache is on the outside. You can park in front of the chained and locked fence as this facility is no longer functional. There is about a 200 yard hike to the cache from the parking area.

This is our very first cache placement so we wanted to make it fairly simple. The cache is an ammo box. The fenced in area was an active landfill for many years for the surrounding area. The facility was closed in July 1997 due to ground water contamination. At that point, the City of Barstow Landfill began taking the refuge from the areas surrounding the Hinkley Landfill. The original contents include LOTS of swag and a couple of trackable items.
As with any desert cache, please be mindful of snakes and critters.
