Geocache Description:

Another cache to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's exploration of the river.

Of course, he didn't get this far north but the river, even up here, is named for him.

Niagara Mohawk Power Company had accumulated most of the low lying land in this area because they had plans for a Big Hadley Dam. Big Hadley would have flooded the valley. Because dam building became an unpopular activity, they eventually gave up that plan and began divesting properties. Their first step was to transfer several parcels that were already being used by the public for camping and picnicking to the state. This is one of those parcels. It's on a beautiful section of the river with little development.
