The theme for this cache is all things shiny for all ages. It also holds some information on the history of the area that you may find surprising. Here are some highlights...
This area was first logged around 1913 and then again in the 1920's, when all the old growth fir and cedar was cut. Many stumps are still visible with spring board cuts in the side. In 1917 much of the forest was offered to returning WWI soldiers as part of the Soldier Settlement lands. Most of the land was smoldering clear cut at the time and although some of the area was homesteaded and later abandoned, most of the land was never claimed. In the 1940's, Christmas trees were cut from this forest at a price of $0.01 per tree. For the most part, though, this area has undergone natural regeneration since the 20's and now provides an amazing opportunity for young and old to enjoy a walk through this green slice of paradise.
