Welcome to Island Magee!!
This is the 1st cache in the 12 Days of Christmas series.
The 12 Days of Christmas is a series of caches that will take you around Island Magee and have been placed by Gilliancclarke, TeamPTL and Storyteller.
Island Magee is a peninsula 7 miles long on the east coast of County Antrim, located between the towns of Larne and Carrickfergus.
A striking feature on the east side of the peninsula is the Gobbins, a stretch of basalt cliffs 253ft high containing a number of caves. The following caches that are not part of this series but are close by and are well recommended:-
The Gobbins GC11TQF
Gobbins Walk GC17AZ3
A popular beach in the area is Browns Bay with its safe and sandy beach bounded by hills on either side, it is a ideal spot for swimming, boating, picnics and weekends away at the caravan site.
Another cache at Browns Bay which is not part of this series but again is well recommended is:-
A Maiden's Gaze GC1NN1H
Portmuck is a small harbour at the east of the island which offers superb views over to Scotland. The National Trust have done a fabulous job in restoring a coastal pathway which takes you around to view Muck Island.
Again other caches recommended to visit whilst completeing the series are:
Take the High Road GC1CX3R
Portmuck Harbour GC1XMVK
Muck Island View GC1Y16H
Isle of Pigs GC1XMVV
Keep Right on To The End Of The Road GC1CX3R
Millbay is a sleepy village located on the western shore of Islandmagee, reached by a steep road which takes you through a series of hairpin bends.......
Millbay GC1MP5T
The idea behind this series is to take you on a drive around this much unknown and unspoilt area. We hope you enjoy the scenery from cache to cache.
