Nine Ladies Caching Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

NetworkCacher: Earlier in the week I noticed the survey tape markers had been superseded by a chain link fence. Yikes! So I hustled down to the trail today and came away empty handed and sad. All of the stages have been destroyed or stolen. The final container is missing, as is the first stage. The second stage has been plowed under along with a few hundred trees along the edge of the field. WMATA is building a training facility on this site and Clark Construction has begun the ground work. My nearby Terracache - TCA4X Deciduous Dark Roast was also destroyed.

Congratulations to all who found it, Merry Cachemas! The first stage was a recycled shipping security tag with the 2nd stage coordinates on it, tucked into the fence post. The second stage was green dog tag engraved with the final coordinates and hung from a cedar shrub. The final container was an ammo can with a special camo pattern (dancing ladies) and the interior was painted bright gold. There were several urban campers that called this stretch of urban woodland home. I hope they've found safe new spots to alight. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

Geocache Description:

On the ninth day of Christmas the ladies went shopping at Springfield Mall and on their way back to the Franconia Springfield Metro station they discovered a semi-forgotten, paved sidewalk that parallels the Fairfax County Parkway.

Testing Testing, you found a surprise: Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

NoVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas 2009

"Oh! What a perfect place for a multi-cache!" They shouted in unison. So off they scurried to place the stages including the final container which contains a portion of the clue you will need for the grand finale of the NoVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas, GC21PD1. One of the ladies noted that this area can be quite trashy so CITO is a must. Another said to be extra careful if you geocache alone or at night. Still more chit chat revealed how difficult this cache could be in the Spring and Summer with the verdant thorns, grasses and trees. They found a small parking area and recorded the coordinates in an additional waypoint. They even left wrapped presents inside for the first, second and third to find.

We are pleased to present “The NoVAGO 12 Days of Cachemas”, a cache series running from December 25 to January 5 modeled after a familiar Christmas song.

Starting on December 25th, one new cache in this series will be released each day, until “The 12 Days of Cachemas” song is complete. Each cache in this series will contain clues. Collect all clues and figure out the location of the prize cache with some very special prizes.
