NetworkCacher: Earlier in the week I noticed the survey tape markers had been superseded by a chain link fence. Yikes! So I hustled down to the trail today and came away empty handed and sad. All of the stages have been destroyed or stolen. The final container is missing, as is the first stage. The second stage has been plowed under along with a few hundred trees along the edge of the field. WMATA is building a training facility on this site and Clark Construction has begun the ground work. My nearby Terracache - TCA4X Deciduous Dark Roast was also destroyed.
Congratulations to all who found it, Merry Cachemas! The first stage was a recycled shipping security tag with the 2nd stage coordinates on it, tucked into the fence post. The second stage was green dog tag engraved with the final coordinates and hung from a cedar shrub. The final container was an ammo can with a special camo pattern (dancing ladies) and the interior was painted bright gold. There were several urban campers that called this stretch of urban woodland home. I hope they've found safe new spots to alight. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!
