Geocache Description:

Falley Scout Reservation offers a great selection of activities for youth and adults in the Scouting program. It offers an excellent Scout camping facility as well as program opportunities for all ages. Among the activities at camp are: aquatics, field sports, nature programs, C.O.P.E., and more!

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that — on average — requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51).

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases places in our Council that are special to Scouts. This cache is near Falley Scout Reservation/Camp Jayhawk where every summer boys from all over Northeast Kansas and beyond come to swim in the lake, shoot archery, rifles and shotguns, and learn about nature on more than 340 acres of land. Boy Scouts use the camp all year round, so if an event is going on, you may need to use stealth or try another time.

Over its first 100 years, Scouting has provided millions of hours of service to communities across America. For our 100th Anniversary, we’re celebrating that legacy with special service opportunities" through "A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference."

This cache is placed with permission of Jayhawk Area Council. The camp ranger lives nearby, so please be courteous when you search.
