Geocache Description:

Our family loves watching the Olympics, and since Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, we decided to place a short series of Olympic themed caches.

These caches are placed along a section of the L.E. & N. Rail Trail. As in the Olympics, you will have to work for your reward. Bring a pencil and watch for muggles! Two or three cars can park just south of the trailhead.

We ask that you trade fair, "TRADE UP OR TRADE EVEN"! If you take a Geocoin, leave a Geocoin. If you take a TB, leave a TB. If you are not able to make a trade this way, then you are encouraged to simply use the discover option and record the trackable #'s. By continuing to play the game this way, other cachers will have a chance to enjoy finding a trackable and moving it along, also.

There are seven caches in this series. On the lids of the first six caches you will find letters and a number value. Record these letters and numbers to help you figure out the coordinates for the final cache in the series, "13C13's 2010 Olympic Series - The Closing Ceremony."

*THE OPENING CEREMONY*
The Games Ceremonies are to promote international peace and understanding, honouring the world’s greatest athletes, and celebrating humanity. They also provide a glimpse into the host culture. The Opening Ceremony will welcome members of the Olympic Family and guests from around the world.

Some have said there is no greater audience, no greater opportunities, and no greater pressure.

All participating countries enter the stadium in alphabetical order, behind Greece, originator of the Olympic Games. The athletes are led in, parade-style, by their representitive flag-bearer, to the cheers of the crowd and the flashes of cameras. The host country is always the last to enter the stadium, leaving the suspense to mount throughout the entire parade of countries.

The Olympic torch is brought into the stadium by runners who have participated as part of the Torch Relay across their country, and the last runner lights the Olympic cauldron. The Olympic Flame shall not be extinguished until the closing of the Olympic Games.

The Olympics are officially underway once the host national anthem is played.
