The Call of the Nightingale Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

La Lunatica: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

We are the Sutton Centre Community College, Duke of Edinburgh Award Group, and this is our second cache-hide (our first being 'Foxy Lady' near Lockerbrook).

Near the Cromford end of the Cromford Canal, a short walk from the car park at High Peak Junction.

Nearby is the now derelict 'Aqueduct' or 'Wigwell' cottage. No need to enter the cottage. Just keep an eye out for muggles on the opposite bank tow-path.

The cache is a small 'click' type 'tupperware' box, not large enough for sandwiches! On placing, it contained the obligatory notebook, pen and pencil, a keyring, and a Geocoin replica we retrieved from a cache near Castleton the previous week.

The cottage was originally occupied by those who were employed to operate the swing-bridge between the Cromford canal, and the Nightingale arm (hence the name of our cache).
The most famous member of the family whom this short 'spur' of the canal is named after, was one Florence Nightingale.

The Sat-Nav reading IS vauge under the trees, so you might like to look at the 'spoiler' pic AND the (modified) clue before setting out! The cache is on the same side of the canal as the cottage.

First-to-find honours go to 'MarcusGray'!
