Kyrkovandring #41 - Stafsinge kyrka

Den kyrka som idag finns på platsen uppfördes mellan åren 1862 till 1865. Det är en stenkyrka i nyklassicistisk stil och byggdes efter Albert Theodor Gellerstedts ritningar. Den tidigare kyrkan hade en föregångare från 1100-talet och var en medeltida stenkyrka som dock låg på en annan plats. Den medeltida stenkyrkan revs dock år 1863.

Inuti Stafsinge kyrka finns det ett krucifix från 1400-talet. Den har restaurerats av Erik Sköld. Enligt sägen så användes det medeltida processionskorset (idag krucifixet) som en fågelskrämma under en period, när man återfann på en åker. Det efter att det hade försvunnit när den medeltida stenkyrkan revs.

The church that is in the place was built between the years 1862 to 1865. It is a stone church in neoclassicistic style and is built based upon Albert Theodor Gellerstedts drawings. The previous church had a predecessor from the 12:th century and was a medieval stone church though placed in another place. The medieval church was though torn down 1863.

Inside Stafsige kyrka there is a crucifix from the 15:th century. It was restored by Erik Sköld. According the legend the medieval procession cross (today the crucifix) was used as a scarecrow under a period, when it was found in a field. That after it had disappeared when the medieval stone church was torn down.

This geocache is not placed in the church wall. Bring your own pen.
