Geocache Description:

Welcome to Ossett. This cache was part of the girl guide centenary year celebration. The centenary Finale was last night and the 100 hundred years of guiding event has finished. Thanks to all who visited this cache. It has been decided to leave this cache in place because the gardens may be replanted and maintained in the future.

Broc-o-dale gardens and shelter on Kingsway were opened in 1953 as a result of land given in the will of J.H. Glover in 1950 to the people of Ossett. The gift of the old folks shelter was made by G. Halmshaw. Due to vandalism and poor maintenance most of the shelter has been removed and the gardens are in a very poor state. From the gardens if you look towards the new Ossett health village and stretching towards the co-op this was the site of Gedhams mill (and more recently RGS pattern book makers) whose owners were the Glover family. I have tried to source the history of the name for the gardens but, as yet have been unable to find out anything. If you know, then let me know.

Due to a lot of muggle activity in the park I have moved the cache, it is within five/six feet of the old one. It is now much more secure. However you will be more on view from the main road. So be careful. I have taken three readings with my GPS and they are all the same. If you can get a more accurate reading let me know. Also there is a new clue to read.
