Geocache Description:

16th hole of the Beaver Creek Open

Welcome to the Beaver Creek Open.

Our cache course open consists of 18 hides in a loop around Beaver Creek. The caches are placed in a counter clockwise loop within the 3,346 acre Beaver Creek Sate Forest. While hiking in the Susquehanna Hills our caches will be found along the truck trails, horse trails and near public roads.

The Open was created to be a continuous hike which will take just over 5 1/2 hours to complete. All hides should be easy to find and because of the obvious, this will be cacheable year round.

The loop can be done in sections and if done with several cachers (cars maybe parked along the way to prevent back tracking). Parts of the trails are used by snowmobilers in the winter, but closed to horses and bikes from October 31 to May 1.

This cache will bring you to an interesting site. The pines here are huge and within them it can be very dark and scary. Some times several plantings in an area might not survive. This has caused an open spot in the planting plot where a tree has not had to grow tall to compete for sunlight. Very seldom will you see a pine this large with it's needles to the ground. But a tree like this makes a great spot to place a cache.

When you get to the cache and open it you may understand the cache title just a bit easier.
