Hangliders Launch Traditional Cache
Ecca: Went to check on this today. Sadly the area has been trampled quite a bit and trees illegally cut down. No sign of it anywhere. Hasn't been looked for in quite a while so its now retired.

On a steep part of the Great North Walk near Heatons Gap
The best way to reach this one for people of good fitness is to park at the Heatons Gap service station and go up the hill towards Heatons Lookout. You do not have to go all the way to there but it is a steep walk to the GZ.
This is part of the Great North Walk which is a 250 kilometre bush walking track linking Sydney city with the Hunter Valley and Newcastle. It passes through a diverse range of natural habitats and bushland as well as rural and urban settings, including Sydney Harbour, Berowra Valley, Hawkesbury River, Watagan Mountains, Lake Macquarie and the Newcastle coastline, The Great North Walk is a must-see for bushwalkers and nature lovers alike.
This is one of the steeper sections and you will see excellent examples of grass trees on the way up (and sadly lantana also). Near where the cache is you might be lucky enough to see hang gliders launch from a cleared area. There are excellent views over Lake Macquarie and even the ocean.
There is another way to the cache - you could drive to the Telstra tower a bit further up the hill (I think a four wheel drive would be better as it is gravel) and walk down to the GZ. If you do it this way then its worthwhile walking that bit further to see the views.
