Spunky's and Trouble's Memorial Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CrazyFrogLady: Well, sad news for a few of our geocaches ~ We received a log on my North Idaho cache "Not All BILLS Are Bad News....Or Are They??!! ;-)" (GC6KF0A) that said our ammo can was gone. We thought it was a bit strange that we only got a log on that one cache in this public wooded area that we have four caches in. Why not grab the others while they were there?? So, we decided to check on all of them when we went out to replace GC6KF0A.......

They are gone.😔 3 of the 4 caches we had back there are gone. Not only were the containers gone, but the poem posted at my "Gobble, Gobble" (GC2HY66) cache was torn out of it's post, the turkey was simply ripped off the chain and the sign with the poem and the turkey decoy has been stolen. 2 ammo cans stolen. The only one that was still there was the frog my husband hid in a stump for his cache "For My CrazyFriogLady"(GC735CZ) We are assuming they just couldn't find that one. While we were in this public wooded area, there were two people walking around very slowly, staring at us. We later saw them at a house that borders this area. Apparently this was an attack on geocaches in this area....maybe these people think it is their land....maybe they just don't want people back here. Whatever the reason, it was obviously an intentional act because one of these caches ~ "Twins" (GC207ZD) ~ was my first cache and has been here since October of 2009....and has NEVER gone missing before. None of these caches has ever needed to be replaced.

So these high quality caches ~ my very first cache which was an ammo can, another ammo can, and a turkey decoy with 13 favorite points ~ are all going to be archived. 😢 As much as this breaks my heart, it is obviously no longer a cache friendly location. Airrooster is also archiving his cache in honor of me. (And one of the caches that was stolen was one in honor of Airrooster and 0068.)

One of the three caches I had along that road was also gone. A memorial cache for my beloved cats Spunky and Trouble.(GC2249J) This area has changed since I placed it, so I am going to archive this one also as it has gone missing a couple times. Another older cache placed in 2009. 😢 Sad Day.

Geocache Description:

This is a kid friendly, easy cache in Chilco Idaho that is being placed as a memorial to our two late cats.

This cache is dedicated to Spunky and Trouble. These two cats were my children long before I had a human child and were very well loved for their long lives! Even though they are both in Heaven now, our love for them burns strong and we wanted to place a cache in loving memory of them.

The eldest brother was Spunky AKA "King Tut". (Orange and white cat in the photo on the lid of the cache.) Spunky was the definition of "cat-itude" as he was the King of the house....well, actually he thought he was the King of everywhere! :-) I remember one time when my parents were living in a travel trailer and had their hot water heater outside their window.... Spunky had jumped up on the hot water heater and was looking in the window at Grandma and Grandpa when Grandpa yelled at him to get down - how dare he?!! LOL! Well, Spunky glared at Grandpa then stood on his hind legs and smacked their television antenna with his paw - Spunky then sat back down and stared at Grandpa while their T.V. went to snow! Hehehe...Grandpa yelled "that darn cat!" and Spunky got down and sauntered away slowly with his head and tail held high! Yes, he was the King and we all loved him for it!! Of course he was a smart king and never gave me attitude.... After all, Mommy was the source of unlimited food, water, treats and love! Another fond memory is his slobbering...yes, he drooled - more than my Saint Bernards! He loved to snuggle up under my hair and purr and love....and drool! LOL! If I took him to the vet, I had to make sure to wear my hair down to comfort him!
Spunky disappeared 2 years ago when he was 14 1/2 years old and is missed every day!!
The youngest brother was Trouble AKA "Lucky". (Black and white cat in the photo on the lid of the cache.) Spunky was a year old when I got Trouble. Trouble was the silent, dark, sneaky half-wild cat that no-one even believed I had for many years! He just refused to be out in the open when we had company! He was my fighter...the mouser, the cat fighter and the cat who persevered through so much! When he was a kitten he got Hepatitis B ...the vet pulled him through that, then he got hit by a car and broke his leg and four toes....was in a cast for a month over that one, THEN he was shot in the head with a pellet gun. He had the pellet in his head for the last 13 years of his life! Yet, he held on and held tough even though he only weighed 4 lbs and 3 oz towards the end! I remember the first time we had to move...he didn't like that at all! We didn't have cat carriers at the time, so I put him in the car and closed the door against my arm before letting him go and slamming the door - and out he shot! Faster than a speeding bullet that little dude flew out the door and into the woods! It took me 2 hours to coax him out of the forest! LOL! He was tough and anti-social except with Mommy....a cream puff with those he trusted! A very beautiful, silky and loveable little boy! We loved him oh so much!!
Through his nine lives he lived and he wouldn't let go no matter what, so about a month ago, I ended up having to put him down at the age of 15 1/2 years.

I am only 31 years old and I had these cats for 14.5 and 15.5 years - quite literally half my life! I am lost without them- my son and I both miss them terribly! I hope you all enjoy this memorial cache as much as I enjoyed putting it together for my beloved little boys!
Original contents include an FTF item, cat toys, a re-usable hand warmer, and our Spunky TB and Trouble TB to begin the journey of re-tracing their lives.

FTF gets a very cute "I love cats" charm bracelet.
**Congratulations to Digital Dug n' Di for being the first to find - I couldn't think of a more fitting FTF!!**

NOTE: Your GPS will probably tell you to turn on Wishful Trl. However, that route is now blocked off from the HWY 95 constructions. NEW directions to these caches are: Turn on Chilco Rd. (left turn if heading north on HWY 95, right turn if you are heading south). Then turn right on Abbott Rd. just past the lumber mill. Abbott Rd. is a new road that turns into Old Hwy 95 that used to be marked Estates Rd. from the Hwy. Turn left at the first left (Estates) after pavement ends then stay on Estates Rd. to GZ
