If you have never been up this road, you have to do it.
This is an old road that I forgot existed. I have traveled it a few
times when I was younger but not in a very long time.
If you have a delicate vehicle, avoid this road. It's not for the
faint of heart, especially in the winter or when it's
raining.
The cache is a small container, definately not a micro. It can hold
small trade items.
Nothing special to the cache but the road up here can be
amazing.
The road winds along the path of the Bridal Veil creek and takes
you up to an old bridge where the water is always flowing.
Along your drive you will notice spots where it is almost straight
down and no guardrails up here. If you don't pay attention to the
road, well, it won't be pretty.
The cache location is a few dozen feet from a nice waterfall that
rolls down the hillside. When it's raining (like it was on
placement day) the water is gushing really heavy. The sounds of the
stream and waterfalls is extremely peaceful as you are away from
all the population. If you have never been up here on a clear day,
you have to try.
Take a few minutes to walk along the road and see the views from up
here if you wish. The views can be amazing on a sunny day. Another
interesting thing to see is there are exposed layers of earth along
the road. You can see how the area was formed and how it is
evolving through erosion. Watch out though, there have been some
large landslides along here in previous years. Some of the
landslide scars are still visible.
The cache is easily accessible. DO NOT GO OVER THE EDGE TO LOOK FOR
THE CACHE. I wasn't about to go over the edge to place it and you
shouldn't go over the edge to get it. It's easily retrieved from
relatively flat terrain. The terrain rating is because it's
difficult to get up here on the road, let alone if you walked all
the way.
As a caution, watch the kiddos. There are dozens of ways to meet
your maker in these parts of the world. Cache safe!
Enjoy and please post any pictures if you take them.
Please rehide cache so it can't be seen by casual passers-by.
Congratulations to Crag Climber and
halfwaycrazy for the 3:47 AM FTF!!
