While most of the Trinity Trail runs along the muddy water of the Trinity River - which is more like a big ditch in these parts - this section runs along Farmer's Branch Creek and along Naval Air Station Fort Worth's fence line.
The trail here opened in November 2009 and was recently featured in the Fort Worth Star Telegram (see the "Related Web Page" at the top). It's a great place to bring the kids for some wet, rocky fun. There are two trail bridges nearby and a bench to relax on. Check out the pics in the gallery to get a preview of GZ.
You're looking for a uniquely shaped, camouflaged container that holds a log and some eclectic SWAG.
When you screw the lid back on the container, be careful not to cinch the lid down too tight. The handle slot is small, so putting a lot of torque into it could make it tougher on the next folks.
Enjoy this GZrider cache, the view and the trail!
PARKING INFO! (To save you from RFB1's fate)
While many of you will hike or bike down the trail from points east, the closest "trailhead" is actually one that hasn't been constructed yet. Basically just a small dirt lot at this point, this is the planned location of a new trailhead. You can park here and jump right on the new trail bridge, which is already complete. To get here, Take HWY 183 to Pumphrey Drive. The exit sign reads "NAS Fort Worth JRB / FMC Carswell". This loops you around and gets you heading for the main gate of NAS Fort Worth. Before you get to the gate, there will be a small dirt road on the right leading into a vacant lot; you'll be able to see the trail bridge from Pumphrey Drive as you approach. The coordinates of the primitive lot are N 32° 45.770 W 097° 25.237. You'll know if you pass it.
