Short walk to cache, on a slope about 400ft from car parking area
This is a short walk from the carpark, following the south west coast path, can be a bit slippery underfoot as is on a hill, but an easily accessable path. The cache has a small box, when placed had arabian horse geocoin, plus other small swaps.
Polhawn fort is built under the cliffs in Whitsand Bay, today is used fro weddings, conferences etc.
Accordingly Polhawn Fort is one of a number of Forts known as Napoleonic Forts: they were also somewhat fondly known as Palmerston's Follies, since they were never used in action. In fact they were always intended as a sort of insurance policy to discourage attacks, and in this sense, it may be claimed that they were very successful.
