Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in an area that is unsuitable for unsupervised children. The Wharfe is a fast flowing river that is prone to flooding and this is placed (I hope) high enough to avoid it being washed away.

The river here is fast flowing and deep. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful whilst you are here. There is a sign erected by the grandfather of 2 children who lost their lives in this river here on June 9, 1963 near to the cache (see image).

I spotted this location some time ago. It is an area where the people of Leeds would come for the day. Sand was imported from Bridlington, and in the summer, this was something of an inland beach resort. On the day of the tragedy, there were 500 people here.

A report can be found here:-
(visit link)

On the day that I found this spot, and on the day that I set the cache, I saw a beautiful Red Kite (please correct me if this is wrong and it was a Buzzard), so keep your eyes skywards as well as downwards (this probably works best if you are badly cross eyed!).

Curse of the FTF Wharfedale #5 is a continuation of the series that Bullman86 saw while in London and thought it was a really good idea to set up in Kirklees , Bullman86 is quite happy for this to expand further and it is now up and running in Leeds, Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford and York as well as Wharfedale. Guidelines for this series are below:

1. FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (in this case, Curse of the FTF Wharfedale #6) within 1 month. Please note only the FTF'er should place the next cache and not every time someone finds the cache.

2. You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF love around, and gives others a chance to play along. (This is at least till everyone has had ago at FTF who wants to)

3. Cache can be any size or type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, etc.), but I do ask that you set it in the Wharfdale area and if it is a puzzle then it can not be too hard, as it should be easy enough for everyone to find.

4. You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series I will be happy to answer any questions concerning the guidelines or about the placing of caches to those who have not placed a cache before.

By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find, and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find. But if you don't intend to carry on the series please do not FTF and leave it for someone else.
