Geocache Description:

A wonderful 1 mile hike into the woods to the site of (purported) Cherokee indian ruins.

This cache was placed on a fantastic family hike on Christmas eve 2009 in the snow after a rare heavy snowstorm. The theme is christmas-y with some cool FTF items.
Directions:
From Old Fort, NC take Old US 70 to Mill Creek Road, follow to the church in the Graphite community. Park and follow a trail across railroad track till you see the sign for heartbreak ridge trail (see pics). Follow trail to coordinates. You will cross three streams. Keep a close eye out towards the end of the trail for many low overgrown rock walls and foundations that are purported to be the remains of a Cherokee indian settlement. Make sure to re-hide the cache fairly well as there are youth groups that frequently camp in this area.
