da sich hier scheinbar nichts weiter tut und leider keine weitere Reaktion auf Reviewer-Notes kamen, archiviere ich diesen Cache.

Falls Du diese Cacheidee nicht weiterverfolgen möchtest, denke bitte daran eventuellen Geomüll (Cachebehälter, Zwischenstationen) wieder einzusammeln. Solltest Du nochmals Interesse an einem Cache hier haben, so musst Du nun leider ein neues Listing dazu anlegen.

Die Tretenburg

Hier betretet ihr historischen Boden in der Unstrut-Aue.
Eine Burg, wie es der Name annehmen lässt, findet ihr nicht. Nur einen, von Süden gesehen, sanft ansteigenden Hügel der jedoch nach Norden steil abfällt.
Dieser Hügel ist einer der denkwürdigsten Plätze der thüringischen Geschichte. Schon in frühgeschichtlicher Zeit bis zum Mittelalter wurde die Tretenburg als Kult- Versammlungs- und Gerichtsort genutzt. Als Thingplatz besaß der Hügel eine große Bedeutung. Bis zur Zerschlagung des Thüringischen Königreiches durch die Franken und Sachsen gegen 531und auch noch später hielten hier, von Zeit zu Zeit, die Machthaber Gericht.
Reste einer Wallanlage, Oberflächenfunde belegen eine Nutzung mindestens seit der jüngeren Bronzezeit und die einer Kapelle, welche nach Überlieferung Bonifatius gegründet haben soll, sind heute nicht mehr sichtbar.
Die Rundsicht über das flache Land kann man jedoch heute noch genießen.
Der Cache ist unter den oben angegebenen Koordinaten leicht zu finden.
Bei trockenem Wetter sind die Wege allgemein gut begehbar. Mit Kinderwagen bei trockenen Wegen machbar. Bei Regen haben sie die Eigenschaft von Feldwegen, welche dann oftmals schlammig sind. Parken kann man bei N 51° 07.728
E 010° 55.330 . Dann sind es etwa 2km bis zum Cache.

Tretenburg castle
You are now entering a historical site in the Unstrut river valley.
You will not encounter a real castle, as may be considered by the name castle. It is only a smooth hill, seen from the South with a steeper slope at its Northern edge.
This hill is one of the more important remarkable sites in Thuringias history. From the pre- and protohistory till the Medieval times the Tretenburg castle was used as a ceremonial and meeting place as well as a place of trial. As a so called Thingplatz (ceremonial place) the hill was of great importance. Until Thuringia was conquered by the Frank and saxon people in the year about 531 this place was used by the Thuringian leaders to sit in judgement.
Remains of a rampart from the early ages as well a the remains of a small chapel, what is said to have been founded by Bonifatius, are nowadays not longer to be seen.
Nevertheless you can still enjoy the panoramic sight from this point.
The cache can easily be found by the above stated coordinates.
When it is not raining the path are easy to walk on. When they are wet they tend to be very muddy.
You can park you vehicle at N… E… From here it is just a 2 k’s walk to the cache.
