Geocache Description:

Located in the main street of Wagga Wagga is an historic building which was the first ever purpose built Post and Telegraph Office for the region. It was constructed in 1869, long before email and telephones were the norm, where long distance communication operated out of Post and Telegraph Offices around Australia.

Andrew McCracken was the first Telegraph Station Master in Wagga .One of his duties was to keep the telegraph line in order-a job that would have taken him halfway to Urana and then halfway to Gundagai, where the next telegraph stations were at the time. The post office was originally a two storey, red brick structure with a clock turret. The clock itself was only installed nine years after the building was in place,in July 1878.

The cache is Bison tube blended into its surroundings..
.PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: The 3 difficulty reflects the stealth requirements needed to achieve the find in a very busy location at times. You do not need to enter any gardens to locate the cache or venture down any laneways. The cache is not located within any gardens or ivy walls or touching any gardens. The cache hide is very safe and clean.Nearby buildings will make satellite coverage tricky,so give your GPS time to settle.Good Luck.
