Geocache Description:

Cheeseburger at the Summit of Mt Comanche Lookout

Come join us to eat cheeseburgers at noon at the Summit of Mt Comanche Lookout to celebrate KitKat54’s 1,000th find, CADrake’s 2,000th, and Electric Water Boy’s 3,000th find.

You will need to prepare for this event.

Those living in the area will not need to acclimate to the altitude, but those living in much lower elevations made need to show up a few days early to adjust to the change in altitude. Though we will be ascending to great heights we believe only one or two persons will require the assistance of bottled oxygen.

Most of those attending will be free climbers as we are big risk takers. If free climbing does not suit your personality you may consider bringing mountain climbing equipment. But we're suggesting you leave that stuff at home for this expedition. Live wild!

You will need to supply your own cheeseburger. To the southwest of the mountain there are places for provisions. One is owned by a fellow named Jack who lives in a box. Another’s name escapes me at the moment but his building is easily spotted by the orange and white stripes. Across from him is a fellow named Carl. To the north east there is a young girl named Wendy and another fellow named Jim. There are some others who can provide you with a cheeseburger and other food items is needed. Or you could make your own.

You will need to provide your own Sherpas. They are hard to come by in this region so you may want to team up with others in attendance to pack in your provisions. Remember though, what you pack in you should also pack out. Also, the local governing authorities do not allow the use of pack animals other than dogs nor will they allow the use of motorized vehicles.

There will be four options to ascend the mountain, and thus there will be four base camps. You will need to choose the one that best suits your needs. There will be two to the northwest. One will be for the minimalist, which we will call Northwest - Minimal. The other will be for those requiring a lot of space. You may see a fox run by your car at this place, so we'll call it Northwest - Fox. To the southwest will be a base camp for those wishing to do research on mountain climbing before making the ascent. To the southeast will be the base camp used routinely by those ascending the mountain.

There are maps of the mountain at the Southwest and Southeast Trailheads.

The time it takes to make the climb to the summit will depend on which base camp you choose to start from and your abilities to make the climb. Be sure to study the area on a topographic map such as can be found at Google Maps. Regardless of when and where you start, plan on being at the summit at noon to share a cheeseburger with us.

We need to also make you aware of some dangers you may face. Besides the fox that can be seen at the northwest trailhead, the occasional jaguar and rams has been seen at all of the trailheads. And you are very likely to see a cougar on the trail itself. Weapons are not allowed in the park.
