elrojo14: I borrowed an e-bike so I could keep up with Tung8 and we headed out to come check on the caches that might have fallen victim to the Madre Fire and hopefully make it to the peak. We left the trailhead at 8:54 AM and we were making fine time. Until I hit some wet clay and my front tire immediately seized up because of the lack of clearance between the tire and the splash guard. Tung8 wanted to remove it but we didn't have the proper tools and I was just borrowing it. So we spend a lot of time clearing out the tire and that is why it took us two hours and 15 minutes to get here.
There was no mistaking that this one is gone. It appears they even hauled out the remnants because the fridge and the picnic table should have survived, but there is nothing left but that big tank. Speaking of that big tank, it was never here before! They hauled out all of the wreckage and trash and moved this big tank here from somewhere. So interesting. I have planted a new cache here for your enjoyment. No More Shelter to Take! I hauled two ammo cans out here, I better use one! We headed on down the trail at 11:17AM.
