Geocache Description:

This is our first Nano Cache, so bring your own writing implement please.

There was a ferry to cross the River Derwent at this point from around 1200, but the first Bridge was erected in 1798 thus addding one ferryman to the unemployed register.
The present bridge is much more recent, but Boy Racers are continually trying to knock it down, with varying degrees of success, hence the recent addition of the modern Armco barriers which do nothing for the aesthetic appeal of the stonework.
Tolls have long been a thing of the past, but perhaps charges should now be levied on people carelessly damaging the structure of the bridge.
