Geocache Description:

This cache was once a three-stage multi, and after running it's course I decided to archive the original and bring it back as a traditional cache. The original ammo can is in the same location as it was in the archived multi. Have fun, and now you can get a new smiley face by finding a new cache in a familiar spot.

You must sign the logbook to get credit for this new cache.

We ask that you trade fair, "TRADE UP OR TRADE EVEN"! By continuing to play the game this way, other cachers might have a chance to enjoy finding a trackable or other geocaching swag when they visit this cache.

The archived cache was my very first cache placement. I chose this theme because there were no "hockey-related" caches in Brantford, home of "The Great One!" The purpose was to pay tribute to the greatest hockey player ever, Wayne Douglas Gretzky.

Wayne was born in Brantford, Ontario on January 26, 1961 to parents Walter and Phyllis Gretzky.

Wayne, nicknamed "The Great One," is widely considered the greatest hockey player of all-time. At the time of his retirement, at the end of the 1998-99 NHL season, he was the NHL's all-time scoring leade in Goals, Assists & Points in both the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs. He led the NHL in scoring a record 10 times, was Captain of 4 Stanely Cup Championship teams, and was named the league's MVP a record 9 times. He is the only NHL player ever to score 200 points in a season, and did so 4 times in the span of 5 years.

A great ambassador of pro sports, he was also named the NHL's Most Gentlemanly Player 4 times and received the Order of Canada (the highest civilian honour) in 1998.

Upon his retirement in 1999, his trademark jersey, #99 was retired by the NHL.

I have chosen to use the old log book, so the first cacher to find this cache should simply start a fresh page and log FTF under "HCIC - Gretzky #99 (Revisited)."

The cache contains only hockey-related items. Please keep to the theme when trading if possible, and please replace the cache as you found it.

There is no need to go near the road, or over a fence. Check the map on this page. YES! It is in THAT spot! There may be some bushwhacking required depending on the season.

Happy caching!
