• Cache is not at the posted coordinates. • But if you read carefully, a little botanical sleuthing should reveal it easily.

I know. I know. I'm no Carolus Linnaeus. I admit I am botanically challenged, but I can at least tell the difference between a manzanita and an an oak tree. A manzanita this nice—as you see in the picture above, it was, indeed, a splendid specimen before fire and drought took their toll; not so much now— is unusual enough this side of the Verdugos that I thought it worth remarking. Not much mystery here: About midway between this specimen and the next manzanita up the trail you should spot a large quercus more to your liking.
Cache is a large camo painted vitamin bottle in a typical c&d location. Please retrieve and replace carefully—probably best to leave it tethered, and just remove/replace the lid.
Caution: numerous hazards can be encountered whilst hiking in the Verdugos—ticks, snakes, coyotes, beehives, poison-oak, even mountain lions. Please take adequate precautions, including sunscreen and plenty of water.
