An Ammo Can? Really? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FobesMan: Picked the container up yesterday. Releasing the location to someone else. It might be difficult to place another cache here due to proximity issues from a couple of other nearby caches.

NOTICE May 2, 2011: A Letterbox has been placed in close proximity to this cache. It is on the opposite side of the Gazebo so it really should not be an issue but in case you find it, please DO NOT take the stamp. The Letterbox is a lock -n- lock, the GEOCACHE is an Ammo Can, if you find anything other than that, you have not found the cache. Please re-read the description and keep looking!

The area that this cache is placed in once was a waypoint point for a very well thought out puzzle cache. Everyone raved about it and loved it for it's originality and the work that went into putting it together but it had 2 major problems.

The first problem was that the location that the final was placed in was in an area that was susceptible to the many floods that happen along the Snohomish River and so consequently it was washed away more than once. The second problem was that although the waypoints were great and provided for an enjoyable walk, many of them were associated with merchants, which either sell their merchandise, move away, or go out of business. It was this last problem that ended up being the final undoing of the cache itself.

After the economic downturn that started two summers ago I wrote to the cache owner (who had adopted it from the original owner) and asked if the then disabled cache (disabled because another flood had washed it away) was ever going to be re-done. Many of the items whose photos were used in the puzzle had been sold or the shop owners had gone out of business and so the puzzle was really no longer solvable. They agreed and subsequently shut down the cache.

Since that time I have had a strong desire to place a cache near one of the spots that were part of the original puzzle and still was in place. This location is one of those spots. As the title suggests, the cache is an ammo can. It's your task to figure out how I hid one here. There is little chance of the cache being washed away by floods but it is in a very high muggle area so please use discretion while searching. The spot itself can be used for River viewing, Latte sipping or trail watching and so I encourage you to do all 3. And then there is downtown Snohomish and the antique shops, which are worth the trip all by themselves.

Have fun and thanks for taking the time to log one of my caches!
