This event will be held at the Ventura Port District (it is good
that the Harbor Master is co-hosting the event) Just plug in
Geocache GC1A020 "1603 Anchors Way Drive" and this will lead you to
the parking lot of the facility where the event will be held. Go to
the front entrance , up the stairs and into the conference room.
FEBRUARY 13th 2010, from 9am til Noon Mark yer calendar DUE TO
LIMITED SPACE WE CAN ONLY ACCOMMODATE 40 PEOPLE So if you sign up
be pretty dog gone sure yer gonna be there Why Nerd day? Well when
I first was told about Geocaching I thought to myself "How Nerdy
can you get?" I have found since then that Caching is a great
adventure and it's people are some of the best in the world. BUT!!!
You do kinda need to be a bit of a computer nerd to make the game
more fun....So...NERD DAY! At least three of the OVC's original
members ( GSMX2, Maxgold and Badfeet) will give some formal
presentations on subjects such as 1. POCKET QUERIES, how do I get
all that info on Groundspeak into a format I can use? 2. GSAK
(Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), How can I manipulate that data and
get it into my GPS? We will also show you how to make one of those
neat macros in GSAK that allows you to get more info on your
profile than you can possibly ever read in one sitting 3. CACHEMATE
and possibly some other software that will allow you get that info
on PDA's and the like So if you are one of those that is still hand
entering coordinates into your Geepers or don't know how to get the
hints and short description in there...Well this is the event for
you You don't have to admit you are a NERD, that can be our little
secret! The OVC will provide doughnuts and coffee and at least a
few door prizes Small children and pets probably won't get much out
of this event so we recommend you bring them to one of our upcoming
FUN events and save them from Nerdom as long as you can Make sure
you put this on your watchlist because there may be additions or
updates UPDATE #1 I told at least a couple people that we would
touch at least a little on MAC applications. As it turns out none
of us have much experience with MAC. Soooo if you are a MAC user
and would like to talk to the group for a FEW minutes please
contact Badfeet through their profile WE HAVE GONE PAST THE 40
SEATS AVAILABLE. BE AWARE THAT THERE MAY BE STANDING ROOM ONLY!!
