Turf War: Tri-State Border Patrol Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

BriGuyNY: Now that pictures are uploaded and everyone has checked in, I'm archiving this listing. Thank you all for coming and having a great time! Perhaps there will be another one of these next year if the turf war develops further. My TB's in here will be checked out as I disperse them to new caches. Cache on!

Geocache Description:

Come one come all to the first ever Turf War Border Patrol event!

On November 29th, 2009 I attended a geocaching gathering at Schunemunk Mountain with some of the Tri-State Geocachers and others from my hometown. We had a great deal of fun meeting in the morning, staying through the day, eating lunch at The Megaliths (Orange County's highest point), and ending our trip in the late afternoon with new friends and a burning sense of satisfaction in our heads... or was that all in our legs? ;) Either way, it dawned on me that a variation of this should happen again, so without further a-do I now present you with: The Turf War Border Patrol!

The listed coordinates will take you to a large parking area where the day is set to begin. This is at a trailhead for the Taconic Crest, a hot spot for East-meets-West battle, so what would be better than to have the opposing forces of NY, MA, and VT (as well as PA and NJ) come together at the border line for a bit of good food, a sharing of war stories, and old-fashioned camaraderie? Dress in your proper turf war attire now, cuz I want a good clean fight!

The basics for this event are as follows:

We will meet at 7am for a breakfast gathering to eat and discuss the tales of Turf War history. I'll be there earlier to set up. I'm going to bring some boxes of donuts & JOE, along with a bag of utensils and a folding table. It would be great if others could bring additional breakfast supplies like juice, plates, and perhaps other variations of breakfast food.

During breakfast we will do a trackable exchange & discovery session, so bring what you've got and show it off or swap with others while we're there.

After breakfast, (around 8-8:30) the event will conclude and some of us intend to work off this meal by hiking up the Taconic Crest Trail. We would love to have the company of any and all event participants. If you decide to join us, please bring a lunch and appropriate gear with you.

Please log a note to this listing so I can begin accumulating a list of definite & potential attendees, as well as an item list so that we're not too short or overstocked. Questions? I'd be glad to hear them! Just shoot me an email and I'll get back to you. Hope to see you all there!
