I'll admit, when I first saw this Little Lady appear in a prominent spot in downtown Neenah, I was nonplused. Sensations of the sentiment I feel toward the surplus of publicly displayed macho military machinery surfaced - too prevalent and a little too fell-good for the many who may see her but not have a true appreciation for what she stands for or for the history of how she came to be.
But then, this is Our Lady, the one that many of our immigrant forefathers bore witness to as they approached Ellis Island and She is nothing to dismiss lightly nor make trivial with a simple offset cache using in-situ plaque info.
It's not surprising that our iconic Lady of Liberty would find herself replicated in miniature form in souvenir shops across America, or even that there are many replicas of her in various locations throughout the US, but perhaps it would surprise you to discover just how many Ladies can be found abroad on foreign shores.
