CONGRATULATIONS TO CARROLLA AND MISS ANNE FOR FTF

Located in the Gordonia Alatamaha State Park in Reidsville GA. with the permission and involvement of park management. There is a park pass fee of $5 to enter the state parks. Please observe park hours of 7 am to 10 pm. Difficulty is 2, so it shouldn't be hard to locate. Terrain is a 3 because the undercover, which may have your coord's a little off. Watch for thorns. In warmer weather, you may need some bug spray. Area is near the lake, and the ground may be a little wet, but shouldn't be a problem in locating. In the winter time, it can be a little colder because of the breeze off of the lake.

Cache is a large ammo box. It contains a few whatnots, and lots of toys and trinkets for the young Geocacher. It also contains a FTF prize. This is our first hide, so please let us know how we did.

We decided to hide one in our hometown because there is only one other cache in our county. We decided to place it here for all to see the park and enjoy all it has to offer.

A favorite for picnicking, family reunions and golf. Picnic tables and shelters surround a 12 acre lake where visitors can rent pedal boats and fishing boats during warmer months. Docks are available for land-loving anglers. Children will enjoy looking for beaver dams from the observation deck. In spring 2010, the park will open five rental cottages facing Brazell's Creek Golf Course. Cost will be around $100 a night. All feature screened porches, fireplaces, fully furnished kitchens, and televisions. The park's golf course, which was recently upgraded from a 9 hole to an 18 hole course, offers a pro shop and junior/senior discounts. Gordonia-Alatamaha's unusual name comes from the rare Gordonia tree -- a member of the bay family -- that once grew in the park, plus the original spelling of the nearby Altamaha River.

In its 662 acres, is a 12 acre lake, 29 Tent, Trailer, RV Campsites, 5 Cottages (opening spring 2010), 4 Picnic Shelters, Group Shelter (seats 70), miniature golf. Boat rental, and fishing, sorry, no private boats allowed.

I hope you enjoy, and remember, cache in, trash out.
