Geocache Description:

Cache is located on private property (my front doorstep) not quite a 1 for terrain (there are some steps), but close to.

This cache is, above all else, an experiment.

I've long maintained that most people trade what they think is fairly, but that their is a natural tendency to slightly 'under value' what is in the cache, or over value your own goods in trade. This leads, in the long run, to the common phenomenon of cache degredation. I'm sure we've all had, or seen caches that started with hundreds of dollars of swag in them, but turned, seemingly overnight, in to 'trash caches'.

I've been curious for a long time what the results would be if the cache swag were constantly 'refreshed'. Would most people hover around fair? Or would people still trade an item with obvious value for a prize from a gumball machine?

So here's the game: I have placed an ammo can on my doorstep, with a number of DVDs of my topo maps in it, along with a log book. (if you are unfamiliar with my topo maps, google "Ibycus Topo" to see what people are saying about them).

Anything which you trade in to the cache, I will trade out again for another DVD. This will hopefully remove the element of drift, and allow examination of the individual trade items (anything that was in there was obviously traded for a DVD - so the trader valued it the same, or better than the DVD they were getting)
