Geocache Description:

What started out in 1872 has gone through three name changes and four location moves to become The Williamsport Home, and is still growing. We welcome you to our campus, DRIVE SLOWLY. Cache is placed with permission. AVAILABLE dawn TO dusk ONLY! Daylight hours only Please !

You will find a TRAVEL BUG HOTEL inside the cache.. Please remember if you check a bug out , check one in !

Please be respectful, drive slowly, and visit during daylight hours only! We have residents and staff who walk the campus area and a lot of wildlife who like to cross the roads.
We were organized and chartered in 1872 under the name of Women’s Christian Association of Williamsport and we occupied our first home on Pine Street. In the spring we moved to a frame building at 136 East Third St which was soon outgrown.
In 1876 land was donated and a home was built on Campbell street North of the Pennsylvania Railroad at the corner of Erie Ave. The name also changed to The Home of the Friendless and started to take in children. 1929 found us serving 40 women and 63 children.
Another move in January 1895, found the women and children in a brick building at the corner of Campbell Street and Rural Ave. Over the years solariums were added along with playgrounds and gardens for the children and women.
In 1940 our name changed to The Williamsport Home and we started to phase out care for children. In 1975, no longer an orphanage and running out of room, we moved to our present site. We are still growing; with three independent apartment buildings, two levels of assistance in living, and recently becoming a continuing care retirement community, but our hearts and family still shows our TRADITION OF CARING

WELL the cache is a very short walk from the main parking lot. Take your CAP off and let your 2 eyes enjoy the view.
