Erzgebirge:
Ganz in
Störung in Verbindung steht.
Schokoladenfelsen:
Geologen.
- Genießt die Schokolade ;-)
- Mailt uns die Antworten und loggt den

irgendwas nicht stimmt. Ihr müsst nicht auf eine Freigabe
warten.
Nur die korrekten
Antworten gelten als Logberechtigung.
Es
gibt in Wiesenbad keine vernünftigen Parkplätze. Parkt am besten im
Parkhaus (Wegpunkt) des Thermalbades - Parkgebühren oder am
Supermarkt (auf eigenes Risiko)! Um vom Blutwurst- zum
Schokoladenfelsen zu gelangen, folgt einfach dem ausgeschilderten
Wanderweg.

Ore
Mountains:
Before approx. 350 Mio years the central european mountains and
with these the ore mountains were formed. The so called variscan
mountains were built as a mighty high mountain area. Later the
mountains were taken down by erosion, filled with sediments and
flooded by the ocean. During period of tertiary the frangible
earth's crust were broken due to tectonic movements and the raise
of the ore mountains massif for more than 1000m. At deep faults
which extend into the earth's mantle magma rose. Due to erosion the
upper sediment layers were taken down and now you can find the old
metamorphic and magmatic stones at the earth's surface.
Wiesenbad's
Fault:
The chocolate rock and the blood sausage rock are located within
the so called Wiesenbad's fault. This fault zone was created during
the folding of the ore mountains. It passes from northwest to the
southeast, has a length of 7,5km and separates the Marienberg
structure in the northeast from the Annaberg structure in
southwest. Within this fault zone you can find veins of the very
seldom lamprophyre (a dark magmatic stone) and metabasite (a
magmatic stone with a high content of silica.
blood sausage
rock:
The blood sausage rock is a rock massif that is only 10 * 10m large
and 5m high within the Wiesenbad's fault. The rocks consists of a
iron-manganese-compound with embedded quartzes, which makes the
rocks look like a blood sausage. Nearby the blood sausage rock you
can find the thermal spring "Georgsquelle", which origing is has a
strong relationship with the Wiesenbad's fault.
chocolate
rock:
The chocolate rock is an impressive rock formation within the same
fault zone. The rocks are raised 75m over the Zschopau valley. The
rocks consists of gneiss with a lot of biotite and contains ore of
iron and manganese and contains inclusions of garnets.
Your
Tasks:
- Visit the blood sausage rock at the upper
coordinates and determine the part of quartzes in the rock. Which
statement is true:
- The part of quartzes is greater than
20%.
- The part of quartzes is approx.
20%.
- The part of quartzes is less than
20%.
- Visit the chocolate rock (waypoint). The
rock consists of cristals of different colors. Investigate the
surface of the rock with a magnifier. What colors do you find there
except brown?
- Optional Task: If you are able,
post a picture free of spoilers of your visit at the site, at best
with a bar of chocolate. When photographing rocks, stones or other
features, geologists usually include an object for scale in the
picture. It's usually a hammer, a pocket knife or a ruler which can
be used to estimate the size of the object. It's up to you which
object you use as long as it helps for estimating the scale of the
object in the picture. This procedure is common standard. Taking
good quality photographs is part of the field work for
geologists.
- Enjoy the chocolate ;-)
- Mail us answers to the questions and log
the cache (with the photo). We'll contact you if something is wrong
with the answers. You don't need to wait for log
permission.
Only the correct answers a
valid log authorization.
In
Wiesenbad you can't find any reasonable parking areas. Please park
in the parking garage (Waypoint) of the thermal spa - Parking fee
or at the supermarket (at you own risk)! To get from the blood
sausage rock to the chocolate rock, simply follow the signed hiking
trail.
