Geocache Description:

Choshi city is population about 70,000 in East Kanto.
Old stratum before the Mesozoic cropped out alone in Chiba, and it has been studied in detail from old days because the fossils such as ammonites produced.
In addition, the igneous rock of the new generation is distributed, and it is known even that I produce a special rock called bronzite andesite.

The bronzite andesite was ever watched with Sanuki stone (sanukite,Kankan stone) which belonged to Seto volcanic zone represented.
but generation of the volcanic rock of the Setouchi volcanic zone was before about 13,600,000 years,and it became clear the volcanic rock of choshi city was older than the Setouchi volcano rock, and to be volcanic rock about 21,000,000 years ago now.
Property of the rock is classification of the rock called sanukitoid, and it is a friend same as Sanuki stone.
this stone made from the magma of the andesite in a mantle constituting the earth, and it is volcanic rock of the vitreosity which a lot of content of the magnesium.
bronzite andesite is important rock of origin of the andesite and the structure of the Japanese Islands elucidate a problem in the geology.

銚子市は関東東部の突き出た半島にある人口約７万人の都市です。
千葉県内で唯一、中生代以前の古い地層が露出しており、アンモナイトなどの化石が産出することから昔から詳しく研究されてきました。
また、新生代の火成岩も分布しており、古銅輝石安山岩と呼ばれる特殊な岩石を産出することでも知られています。

古銅輝石安山岩は、かつては讃岐石（さぬき石、カンカン石）に代表される瀬戸内火山帯に属する岩石とみられていましたが、瀬戸内火山帯の火山岩の年代は約1360万年前であり、銚子の火山岩は瀬戸内火山岩類よりも古く今から約2100万年前の火山岩であることが判明しました。
岩石の性質は、サヌキトイドと呼ばれる岩石名の分類に入り、讃岐石と同じ仲間です。
この岩石は、地球を構成するマントル内で溶けてできた安山岩質のマグマから成り、一般の安山岩よりもマグネシウムの含有量が多く、斜長石の斑晶をほとんど含まないガラス質の火山岩です。
古銅輝石安山岩は、安山岩の成因や日本列島の構造など地質学上の問題を解明する上で重要な岩石で、実物を「古銅輝石安山岩保存公園」で見ることができます。
