The "Icker Loch" is a so called "sinkhole", a geological
collapse crater.
Due to leaching of salt and lakes of rocks in the subsurface, there
is formed , a large cavity in the deep over time. The ceiling of
this cavity can’t withstanding the high pressure of the
overlying layers of the earth no more. When it breaks, the
overlying rocks are going to slip. At the surface a sinkhole is
born.
After 2 months the “Icker Loch” had a diameter of 34
meters and was 40 meters deep. This can only guess about how big
the underground cavity was. Today there is only a split of it.
The "Icker Loch" is the third traditional sinkhole in the area
between Rulle and Icker. The first known sinkhole, the "Icker
Kuhle" was formed 1411 and very close to the “Icker
Loch”.
On the development of the today existing „Icker Loch“
in 1782, the „Icker Kuhle“ didn’t existed as an
open water any more, but only as a swampy place.
The second sinkhole, the "Icker Kolk” was formed 1564 and
disappeared in 1864.
The population has always been very worried about the
formation of sinkholes, and gave rise to legends and stories,
including the "Icker Loch". Here, the devil should have drawn a
wicked woman together with their horse-drawn into the depths. Only
the driver and the horses were supposed to save
themselves.

The
“Icker Loch is a "sinkhole" that is formed due to leaching of
salt and lakes of rocks in the subsurface.
How is a chimney-, funnel-shaped- or bowl-shaped sink called, which
is proceeded due solution in the earth's surface?
2) Measure the girth of the sinkhole. (in Meters).Round it up to
the next biggest number. (steps of ten) Example: ascertainted
result: 65 Meters EndResult = 70

Umfang= 65 Meter, Ergebnis = 70
