CWT2010 - Tamarack Trek Traditional Cache
JUNGLE J: Yesterday I noticed that the road and bridge construction have blocked off the small lot where access is available for this cache, so I am closing it down. No-one can get there safely, especially on a working day. Cache is no longer available. Jungle J

A small camoued cache hidden in the forest off Cobbledick Road south of Highway 2
This is an unusual location in that the small forest area hosting this cache is composed entirely of the Tamarack tree, Larix Laricina. Also known as the Larch, this tree is the only native conifer that sheds its leaves during the winter. Its leaves are soft, short, clustered in groups of up to 40, and turn a lovely golden yellow before they drop in the fall. Its wood is moderately hard and it is considered the heaviest and strongest of the softwoods in Canada. This wood resists decay and is used for railway ties, posts, and telephone poles.
