This land was once housing, mostly California bungalows, along both sides of the street. When Berkeley voted to have BART moved underground across the city, the houses were bought up and the area cleared. After BART was done, it was made into what is now Ohlone Park. This cache and its companion Ohlone Greenway (GC22Z98, now archived) are meant to expand your experience beyond zuckermn's Bzerk Park+Rec Orphans #02: Ohlone Park (GCR0K1).
During the excitement of the late sixties, this stretch became known as Peoples Park Annex and was used as a staging area for the National Guard to surround the Berkeley campus.
Things are much quieter these days. There are two play yards -- one for tots -- and a moderate grassy area. Take some time to go over and enjoy the murals not far from the cache.
Park hours 6 am to 10 pm, although some unauthorized overnight (and into the next morning) camping does occur close by. A local private school also sometimes uses this part of the park for lunch and recess.
If you are vertically challenged, assistance may be required to retrieve the cache. Not wheelchair accessible. Rely on geosense.
