You are looking for a .30cal ammo can just off the FLT. Parking at the dam visitor center, coords N 42 43.855 W 077 54.405 Even thought the park road to the dam is temporarily closed, there is a short detour, and you can get to the visitor center.

The cache is just over .3 miles from the visitor center, the FLT here is open and well maintained. In the winter, it is a great snowshoe or cross-country ski trip.
The cache is well back from the edge of the gorge, but if you go over by the edge to view the dam, remember there is no fence here, so take care with children and pets.
This is a little seen view of the dam. We have hiked this entire leg of the trail from Al Lorenz park to the dam site, and this is one of the few spots you can get a clear look at the front of the dam.
There are some great trees nearby for photo-ops, as well as a great dam view.
