Ruthven Park was the former home of
the Thompson family who owned the site from the 1840's until 1993.
Originally a country estate and working farm, the property now
consists of approximately 1,500 acres and overlooks the banks of
the Grand River, today a Canadian Heritage River. The mansion is
open to the public at scheduled hours and for pre-booked groups and
special events. There is free access to the park during daylight
hours.
The small cache container is in an approved location a few
metres off the path close to the stone ruins. Please use the path
to get to the cache and do not move it to a better hiding location.
Some snow should not make it hard to find the cache although deep
snow would make finding it more difficult.
Please observe parking instructions: if the gate is closed park
at the gatehouse, if the gate is open stop in at the gatehouse to
let them know you are on the property and then park in the
designated parking area. The washrooms are always open.
When visiting the park you can also find Blue
Quasar's waymark for Ruthven.
