Geocache Description:

The cache is situated on the edge of an iron bloomery site, which had a blast furnace and forge, located in an area between two streams leading to the River Uck.

The site (a Scheduled Ancient Monument) also consists of slag heaps from the bloomery, furnace and forge. The site was constructed c1560 and was known to still be in use during 1667, although you have to imagine how it would have looked now!

A lovely walk, but wear wellies in wet weather - it can get muddy! You can carry on up to Sleeches Viaduct, an impressive 11 arch viaduct hidden in the countryside.

There are a variety of routes to choose from, including a 5 mile circular route.

The cache is a clip-lock container inside a camo bag.

Placed with kind permission from English Heritage
