Geocache Description:

This cache is located within the boundaries of Elephant Butte State Park. From the suggested parking area it will be about a 3/4 mile hike one way. The cache container is a 1 quart plastic food container. An ability to scramble up rocky washes and hike up moderately steep terrain may be required. A small monetary FTF prize is included in the cache. PLEASE RE-HIDE WELL.

This cache is placed in a quiet area where we usually encounter a few deer when we hike through it. From the parking area you will most likely want to head southwest down into a wash, then continue up the wash heading south. After walking a couple thousand feet up the wash and under a fence running above the wash, it will split left and right. You could head either direction or up the ridge in front of you. I recommend continuing up the left hand wash for awhile before heading up the hill, just to experience the hike up the rocky wash. At some point you will want to climb the hill towards the cache. Once on top of the hill and presumably after finding the cache, please continue to walk the ridgeline another 3/4 mile or so heading south, then southwest, and enjoy the views and rock formations. When you are ready to start back to the parking area, I recommend hiking down to the wash that runs along the west side of the ridge until it rejoins the wash you came up. The two washes offer different views and rock formations.

Congratulations to  Inj browning   for being First To Find this dnboe cache!
