Located in beautiful Umungata Bay (Davies Bay), Queen Charlotte Sound. Easily reached with 1 hr walk, or 1/2 hour bike ride from Anakiwa car park. Can also be reached via boat or sea-kayak. Take care of small children near water and some sections of track with steep dropoffs.
Lovely bay, only a short walk/ride/kayak from Anakiwa end of Queen Charlotte Track. The QC Track is a multi-day popular hike and mountain bike track in the Marlborough Sounds. Many people enjoy this easy section of the track for a quick in/out visit. Take your time to enjoy the views and native beech forest.
Davies Bay clearing is a short side track off main QC Track and takes you to a secluded grass clearing, shelter, and campsite.
The cache is a 500ml camo screw-top container hidden about 1m above ground level, and cannot be seen from any distance. Little people may not have long enough arms to reach hide location!
Wasps can be a problem in late summer - autumn, so take care around this time.
Bush cover beyond clearing may hinder GPS readings, but hint should get you there.
