Geocache Description:

Small Cache located in Colony Nature Park, established by the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. This 43 acre park is located near the corner of Twin Beech Road (County Road 44) and Oberg Road (County Road 13). The Park boarders on both roads.

If you plan to navigate to this geocache, please take the time to read this description completely. Cache owner is not responsible for trackables or anything else other people might put into/take from this cache.

This cache is located near an impressive fire ring within a beautiful stand of majestic live oak trees.

The only approach is from the parking area off Baldwin County Road 44. There was a closer approach with a small parking area off of Baldwin County Road 13, but the Fairhope Single Tax Colony (owners of the park) blocked this entrance with no trespassing signs. You will walk a half-mile or so round trip to visit this cache. Wearing long legged pants and boots would be a good idea.

This site is a really nice overview of the nature park. Within view across Cowpen Creek is Fairhope Boy Scout Troop 47's Dantzler Memorial Scout Lodge. It is the prominant dark green wooden building set up on pilings with a large wooden deck. Established in 1928, Troop 47 is the oldest continuously chartered Boy Scout Troop in the State of Alabama (82 years old in 2010)! The Fairhope United Methodist Church has been its Charter Organization for more than 55 years. The lodge was recently moved to this site from behind the church to make room for their new Christian Life Center. For this move, the lodge was cut up into three equal size pieces, each separately moved here by truck and then re-assembled.

The Boy Scouts of Troop 47 help to maintain the nature park. Over the past few years, they have helped to plant several thousand long-leaf pine trees.

This beautiful park is large enough to contain more than one geocache (see "Colony Nature Park")!

Cache is in a Sterilite® watertight plastic container, 2.5 cups (0.6 liters) in volume, approximately 7” x 5” x 2.5” in size.

Cache initially contained a logbook (BYOP) and a one dollar bill (Series 2003A, F1656---5L) trackable at (visit link) There is a little room for additional small items.

Be very careful if muggles are present! Please carefully return the container to his hiding place when you are finished.

22 Jan 2010: Congratulations Jaytwice ... FTF!
